New Kristopher Triana, Wile E Young, Chad Lutzke, and Hailey Piper
Thank you for all the positive messages you sent me last week in regards to everything I shared in the last newsletter.
I had a good week for Thunderstorm, by far the best one of 2024.
Nearly all orders have shipped for Veiled, Abhorrent Existence, With Teeth, Roxie Kills, Ballad of Werevixens, For a Few Souls More, How the Skin Sheds, Cruel Angels Past Sundown, and the Dark Kin lettered. I should be wrapping up the last shipments of these today.
I have some individual copies of the Splatterwestern hardcovers available. If you happen to collect by specific author and need a title or two to fill your collection, now is the chance.

BALLAD OF THE WEREVIXENS
by Kristopher Triana
Years after battling the dreaded outlaws known as the Koyotes, Delia Van Vracken travels mountains and valleys, hunting demons that managed to escape Hell. But also traveling across the plains is Balthazar Rott, a subhuman who’s been alive for centuries. He’s searching for something Delia hoped was forever buried, bringing with him a band of bloodthirsty brides. Meanwhile, young prostitute Josie is discovering new changes about herself, particularly when the moon is full. And when sisters Emma and Pearl find a strange sphere in the hands of a dead preacher, they must band together with crusaders to bring the relic to The Reckoning, before the Werevixens come.
Ballad of the Werevixens is the thunderous sequel to The Thirteenth Koyote, part of a trilogy of horror-western epics by Splatterpunk Award-winner Kristopher Triana, author of Gone to See the River Man and Shepherd of the Black Sheep. It celebrates the strength of the women of the American West, weaving a stunning tale of horror, hardship, and hope.

FOR A FEW SOULS MORE
by Wile E Young
Six years have passed since Salem Covington, the Black Magpie, rode a vengeance trail against those who killed his mentor. Now another lies on her deathbed and she has a message for her former student: He will soon follow her into the next world. But for Salem, there is no opportunity to mourn. A chance encounter with a young outlaw, Amaya, reveals three truths: she is being hunted by strange riders that cannot be killed, they have stolen women, and they answer to a man named Granger Hyde. Left for dead once, Granger has returned to take vengeance for his suffering, and perform a ritual of murder. A ritual with which Salem is intimately familiar. A bloody game of cat and mouse begins as Granger’s riders pursue the pair across the west, led by a woman that awakens long-forgotten fear, and is intent on driving the Black Magpie to his fate and the grave she has prepared for him. FOR A FEW SOULS MORE is the sequel to the Splatterpunk Award-winning novel, THE MAGPIE COFFIN, the second part in a trilogy by Wile E. Young, author of SHADES OF THE BLACK STONE and DUST BOWL CHILDREN. It is an examination of bleak fatality, nihilistic violence, and the iron at the heart of men.

CRUEL ANGELS PAST SUNDOWN
by Hailey Piper
New Mexico Territory, 1882: She comes to the Klein ranch at sunset, a strange naked pregnant woman dragging a cavalry saber. Annette Klein and her husband have built peace between their marriage and secret relations beyond, but their serenity dies in bloodshed tonight through a cannibalistic demon and a mad preacher.
Annette barely escapes the bloodbath to the nearby town of Low’s Bend, where she might find safety with a shotgun-toting barkeep, two no-nonsense boarding room ladies, and the gunslinging bounty hunter who’s captured Annette’s heart.
But hell is at her heels. If she’s going to survive until dawn, she’ll have to forget everything she knows about peace and mercy, and face a hollow malevolence more ancient and ruthless than she’s ever imagined.

An important Thunderstorm note and update on lettered editions
Hello all,
I usually am pretty quiet when it comes to these updates and just go straight to the books, but this week is going to be a little bit different. I hope that everyone reads this, but more specifically, I hope those who work with me have a chance to see this.
Back in late January, I was selected to be on a jury that had a trial that expected to last five months. This trial just ended. I knew that Thunderstorm was going to be affected by this, just as I knew my day job and my personal life were as well. I just vastly underestimated by how much. Basically, I was completely mentally drained throughout the entire process (unfortunately I saw some images I will never get out of my head) and Thunderstorm got the short end of the stick.
One of the options was to just put the press on hiatus for a half year, but I have always had this real fear that any long breaks would be disastrous. I didn’t want to stop, even temporarily, because I believe maintaining momentum is important. And more importantly, I wasn’t allowed to say anything about the case. Disappearing did not seem like a good solution.
I am not sure how many people have picked up on me being a little off. Hopefully, not many. But small things slipped through the cracks, errors here and there that I wouldn’t have missed before and hope to not miss again. Communication was spotty at times. Things took two or three times longer to get done, even if they were simple tasks. I fell behind in writing new contracts and evaluating submissions. I think it showed in my personality as well, when I had my good days I was “just distracted” and when I had my bad days I was shutdown. And of course one of the biggest challenges was shipping books consistently.
I did a decent enough job releasing books in limited edition format so far this year. Very proud of all the books and hope you all enjoyed them. Some are still available so please check out the website. I did fall a bit behind on lettered editions though…and these will consist of most of the books announced today.
So where are we now? Well, the trial is over. I spent Friday night relaxing. Really relaxing for the first time in a long time. And I am now ready to give Thunderstorm a tune-up and get it back on the road. This may take me the rest of the summer, but I vow to get it done.
One last thing before we get to the books, come see me at Scares That Care IV! These events are always a great time, a perfect convention for fans of the genre.

Now to the books. Almost all of the list below are lettered books, which are typically sold out upon announcement. Over the course of the trial, I attempted to stay caught up on limited editions, first and foremost. But I fell behind on lettered edition shipping and announcements. Apologies for having so many at once. You can reach out to me at thunderstormbooks@gmail.com if you want me to hold some for you.

NEW BRENAN LAFARO!
26 lettered copies.

ILLUSIONS OF ISOLATION
by Brennan LaFaro
Is anyone ever really alone?
When a young man’s wife goes away for the weekend, he lies awake all night wondering what the otherworldly sound in the attic is and why only he can hear it.
After her husband’s death, a mother who interacts with her son exclusively through stationery notes grapples with the strange ways her lost love seems to be haunting them both.
And inch by inch, room by room, a young girl’s home is overtaken by a savage jungle, even while her parents are being gradually replaced by somewhat…wilder housemates.
In this debut collection Brennan LaFaro, the author of NOOSE and SLATTERY FALLS, brings you these stories of creeping dread and much, much more. Contained within are thirteen tales of horror, humor, and heart, (including nine which have never before seen the light of day) and an introduction by the legendary Jonathan Janz.

NEW JOHN BALTISBERGER

ABHORRENT EXISTENCE
by John Baltisberger
When the Abhorrent rose from the waters of the Rio Grande and began its inexorable march through Texas, no one could have foreseen the horrors that would engulf the world.
Abhorrent Siren followed those who faced the mutagenic terror of the Abhorrence as bodies and minds were warped, people turned into inhuman monsters, while San Antonio was crushed under the feet of the Abhorrent kaiju. Abhorrent Faith brought the evil Pastor Aiden King, who sought to use the terrifying power of the monster to grow his own power and fulfill his own terrifying vision of bigotry and hate.
Finally, in Abhorrent Accords, the true scope of the Abhorrence emerges. A pandemic of monstrous mutations is rippling across the globe and subsuming all decency and humanity. The evil of Aiden King spreads, and those who survive and somehow escape the changes and carnage will still watch their lives being destroyed. If the human race does survive, will humanity still be the final casualty?
This special collector’s edition of Abhorrent Existence gathers together all three novellas, along with short stories that delve deeper into the world of the Abhorrence and three essays. With an introduction by adored Godzilla comic artist Matt Frank, this is the quintessential collection of kaiju terror.
