BURN THE PLANS
by Tyler Jones

From Tyler Jones (author of Criterium, The Dark Side of the Room, Almost Ruth, and Midas) comes Burn the Plans, a collection featuring fifteen tales of supernatural suspense.

In “A Sharp Black Line” children go missing whenever a ghostly island appears in the center of a river during a storm, and a father must make a terrible choice.

Two young brothers are tasked with burying the family dog, and uncover dark family secrets in “Trigger.”

In “Red Hands” a disturbed man goes on a killing spree, and his childhood friend suspects it has something to do with what they found, many years ago, hidden in a cave.

A courtroom sketch artist draws the evil she cannot see in “The Devil on the Stand.”

A young boy sets out to get photographic proof of the ghosts that haunt his home in “Boo!”

Grotesque government experiments, a remote viewer who blurs past and future, a crate that contains ancient evil, and bloodthirsty machines are all part of the world in which these tales take place.

One of Esquire Magazine’s “Best Horror Books of 2022”, Burn the Plans is a relentless journey into the dark places we end up when all of our plans go wrong.

This deluxe edition features cover art by Ben Baldwin and “Stridor,” a brand new novella written for this release. Also includes interior illustrations by Ryan Mills.

“Tyler Jones’ stories are a manifesto for how horror can move, disturb, amuse, and devastate…written with such heart and humanity that you close the book feeling refreshed, confident that horror still has much to offer.”

– Esquire Magazine

“Trust me: Get this collection. Tyler is an amazing storyteller and he will crush you with the weight of these stories.”

– Sadie Hartmann “Mother Horror,” author of 101 Horror Books to Read Before You’re Murdered

“In his first collection Burn the Plans, Tyler Jones is an author who has found his voice, and it’s a confident, assured one. From the opening story’s look at guilt and penance to the closing story’s tale of a Christmas gone horribly wrong, Burn the Plans features real characters caught up in unreal situations. Recommended!”
– John F.D. Taff, Bram Stoker Award-Nominated author of Little Black Spots and The Fearing

HAZARDS EXIST THAT ARE NOT MARKED
by Kristin Dearborn

he world is a magical place. The journey through Dearborn’s five novellas takes us from the nature preserve of the Everglades, to Maine blanketed in winter snow, to the rainbow of autumn in Vermont, the jewel tones of an island off the coast of the Philippines, to the sun-baked deserts of Nevada. All of these places are wonderful to visit, but each of them hides a terrible secret. Hazards exist that are not marked on any map.

Something has gotten into the waterways of the Everglades, something that’s driving the alligators into a vicious frenzy.

A storm has rolled in to the remote town of Rocky Rhodes, and taking cover underneath the cold and snow is a presence that feeds exclusively on men.

In an update of H.P. Lovecraft’s Whisperer In Darkness, a woman picks up a hitchhiker and falls under siege from forces domestic and unearthly.

A pair of ghost-hunters make the trip to an island off the coast of the Philippines to make a documentary, only to discover an evil they could never have imagined.

A woman and her two small children go missing outside Las Vegas. Suspicions fall on her husband, but why is he scrambling to get his hands on the weight loss shake she sold?

In the underbelly of the world that Dearborn shows us there are dangers at every turn, and no one is to be trusted. Be careful out there and remember: Hazards exist that are not marked.

May titles up for sale! New announcements!!! Extremely limited quantities remain. Bryan Smith, Mike Lombardo, Chad Lutzke, Greg Gifune, Sandy Deluca, Kristopher Rufty!

Hello all,

A bit of a different type of newsletter this time around.  Typically, I just stick to the book announcements and save the rest.  Sometimes I share direct, or on social media, or via the clubhouse, and sometimes, not at all.

Before we get started, I wanted to express my congratulations to Brian Keene and Mary SanGiovanni.  I wish you a very long and happy life together.  I am so proud to know the both of you.

And now to the book announcements.  There are two remaining May titles and they are currently shipping.  I am down to my last couple of copies, they are going to sell out quickly.  If they sell out via Thunderstorm before you can claim your copy, check with online booksellers.

PLEASE DON’T TAP ON THE GLASS
by Mike Lombardo

This edition will be signed by Mike Lombardo, Brian Keene, and Edward Lee.

Eleven stories of grief, existential dread, extreme horror, and gross out comedy.

After discovering a tape he’s never heard of at a video store closing sale, a VHS collector discovers that sometimes nostalgia comes at a terrible price in Dead Format.

In Weekend at Escobar’s, a man finds himself smuggling drugs across the border stuffed inside the corpse of a cartel boss he’s trying to pass off as living.

An eighteen-year-old virgin’s first trip to the porn store goes horribly awry in Just Like the Real Thing.

With supplies and hope dwindling as they struggle to survive in a fallout shelter, a mother gives her son one last Christmas in the original short story that inspired the award-winning film, I’m Dreaming of a White Doomsday.

These and more await as you are invited to gaze into the depths of the twisted mind of filmmaker Mike Lombardo, just be careful you don’t tap on the glass, you might not like what you stir up…

“Already an accomplished filmmaker, Mike Lombardo now flexes more aesthetic muscles as a horror writer by delivering this unexpected hard-wallop of a collection. These stories are expertly written studies of all the components that make modern horror tick: chunk-blower gross-out, psycho-sexual fantasy, laugh-out-loud comedy, and poignant examinations of grief.”

–Edward Lee, author of OUIJA PIG and THE BIGHEAD

“An entertaining collection of heartfelt horror and gross-out fun that showcases the full range of Mike Lombardo’s depraved imagination.” – Samantha Kolesnik, author of True Crime and Waif

DEAD END HOUSE
by Bryan Smith

The abandoned house at the end of Millhaven Road stands on blighted and barren ground, as if nature itself shuns this tainted place. It is known simply as DEAD END HOUSE, and unspeakably terrible things happened there long ago. Murder, torture, mutilations, cannibalism, and necrophilia. Vile deeds spawning an enduring legend of horror.

But DEAD END HOUSE only looks abandoned. Behind its blacked-out windows and crumbling facade, the evil endures. So step up to the front door and knock if you dare. Crazy Calvin and his lunatic sister have been sharpening their knives and are eager to see you.

In addition to regular May titles, I recently released some titles under my new Screaming Cacti lettered banner.  These books are quarter bound in leather/cloth and limited to just 26 copies.  I only have a copy or two of each left and they are sold out.  Click on the cover to get your copy.

As many of you know, I had surgery last month.  Working through all the tasks of publishing while in pain, or while being a bit depressed, or during episodes of extreme frustration has been challenging.  In some ways, I am happy that Thunderstorm didn’t just stop at a standstill.  But in other ways, I realize that many things fell through the cracks, and I should had a better game-plan going in.  The good news is that within the next couple of weeks, I should be back to 100%.  And I have some exciting book announcements coming in June.
