The Skillute Cycle
by SP Miskowski
Long before local businessmen named the town, before European settlers worked the land and sold off the ancient timber of its forest, before Indigenous families left markers to warn away reckless adventurers, a green and malevolent force of nature already existed in this part of Washington state. In the water and under the soil, drawn to the light, it craves power over those who have occupied and all but decimated its habitat.
